Highlights will include driving to and then walking through the various neighborhoods of the Old Port where the first Jewish arrivals lived, then Munjoy Hill, and lastly the Woodfords/Deering area to trace how the Jewish Community was involved with Portland’s emergence in its cultural, artistic, and civic development. Matt will end the tour by speaking of more current events: urban development, cooperation in the religious community, and all the things that make Portland Unique. Participants must be able to walk unassisted and stand for prolonged periods of time.
