About this Event
The Young Ohio Preservationists are hosting a tour at the Erie Street Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio on April 12, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. The tour will begin at the main entrance of the cemetery across from Progressive Field. The Erie Street Cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in Ethnic Heritage and Architecture in 2024. The tour will be led by nomination author, Dani Cohen and explore the significant history of the cemetery from its establishment in 1826 through 1950 with the death of Chief Thunderwater, whose Indigenous activism associated with the cemetery grounds significantly raised awareness of American Indian history and culture in Cleveland and the Western Reserve. Please note that the tour will be taking place outdoors and in areas of unstable ground so dress appropriately. Additionally, as this tour is at a cemetery, please remember to be respectful of the grounds. Young professionals in the historic preservation field are encouraged to attend, but all are welcome. We look forward to seeing you there!
Join afterwards at For a Happy Hour to network and enjoy a beer! Noble Beast Brewing Co. Is located at 1470 Lakeside Ave E.
