Black Architects, Community Architecture, and the Green Book is a Woven in Among Us biking/walking tour of East Austin exploring how Black people created a city within the city, building and maintaining community in spite of racist planning policies. Each building or house tells a story about the people that designed and built it, where they are now, and the significance of these structures today.Decipher City and Ghisallo are teaming up again to host these guided tours on Saturday, October 23rd. We welcome all ages and abilities to join, and the tours are free! Participants have two options:
Saturday, October 23rd
OPTION 1: Bike Tour
9am - 11am
Meet at Rosewood Park, 2300 Rosewood Ave
OPTION 2: Walking Tour
12pm - 1:30 pm
Meet at George Washington Carver Museum, 1165 Angelina St

After the ride and walk, stop by Carver Museum for their Pumpkin Carving Event! Free pumpkins & carving kits, goodie bags, and food with an outdoor photo area!
WHAT TO BRING: A bike and helmet (for bike tour), water bottle, comfortable riding clothes/shoes, and sunscreen. If you do not have a bicycle of your own, a bicycle and helmet can be provided to you for use during the event. Please make a note in the form.
HEALTH SAFETY: While in Austin Public Health Covid Stage 4, we are limiting our rides to 20 participants. In Stage 3 and below, max 30 participants. Fill out the form to reserve your spot (and let us know if your plans change!). Our rides will be fully outside and we suggest people bring along masks to wear when not riding. We kindly request those that are not vaccinated to not attend in the interests of public health.
Ghisallo is hosting biking and walking events this Fall in partnership with Get There ATX, a resource for people to discover the transportation options that exist in Austin.
