An Educational Series: Huachuma (San Pedro) — Heart, Healing & Connection
About this Event

What does it mean to approach a sacred medicine with knowledge, respect, and intention?

Join The Medicine Way for Session Two of Walking the Medicine Path, an ongoing educational series exploring psychedelic and sacred medicines through the lenses of cultural tradition, contemporary research, harm reduction, and intentional practice.

This month, we turn our attention to Huachuma, also known as San Pedro—a mescaline-containing cactus with a long history of ceremonial and healing use within Indigenous traditions of the Andes.

Often associated with connection—to self, community, the natural world, and the heart—Huachuma invites us to explore not only the medicine itself, but the importance of relationship, preparation, responsibility, and integration when approaching non-ordinary states of consciousness.

Together, we will explore:

🌵 History & Cultural Context — Traditional uses of Huachuma and its relationship to Andean healing traditions

🧠 Science & Current Research — Mescaline, psychedelic states, and what emerging research can—and cannot yet—tell us

🛡️ Harm Reduction & Safety — Potential risks, contraindications, Medic*tion considerations, and informed decision-making

🌿 Set & Setting — How mindset, environment, relationships, and the ceremonial container can influence an experience

💛 Preparation — Considering the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of preparing for psychedelic experiences

🏔️ Nature as Teacher — Exploring Huachuma's longstanding relationship with land, nature, connection, and embodied experience

🌱 Integration — What happens after the experience and how insights can be thoughtfully incorporated into everyday life

📚 Continued Learning — Resources and current research for those wishing to deepen their understanding

No previous experience with psychedelic medicines is necessary, and you do not need to have attended Session One to participate.

This is an educational and harm-reduction-focused gathering. Our intention is not to encourage psychedelic use, but to create an informed and respectful space where curiosity, cultural understanding, science, safety, and meaningful conversation can meet.
