Walking Poetry with Ama Birch

The walk will start at 4pm in Rodney Park near the basketball courts, to Domino Park then finish at Miriam Gallery. As we stroll through the streets once roamed by Birch in her youth, participants will be prompted to observe their surroundings: the sounds, the names on street signs, fragmented images and phrases, fleeting glimpses of life. Birch will perform three site specific poems along the course of the walk.

Our walk will end at the gallery, where Birch will lead a poetry reading featuring a new piece crafted from our walk. Participants will then have the chance to share their own poems inspired by their observations from the stroll. It will be a moment of connection, each voice contributing to our collective experience.
