Walking & Writing, 1-Day Creative Writing Workshop at The Hoxton
About this Event
As writers, we can forage for stories, just as others forage for sustenance. On this creative foraging walk through Berlin, we will slow down, look, touch, and listen. Led by writer Demi Anter, this workshop will help us practice the art of paying attention and learn new ways to write the city blocks we stroll down every day.
The session will consist of reading and discussion of literature from a range of disciplines, a guided walk through Charlottenburg, accessible writing exercises, and feedback.
Together we will use the details we glean from the city to reimagine our day-to-day environment, find inspiration from history, and create new stories that are totally our own.
Who is it for: All writers are welcome. This workshop is open to new writers as well as experienced writers. If you know Berlin well, it is a chance to see your city with new eyes. If you are new to Berlin or just visiting, this workshop is a unique way to get to know a corner of the west.
Please note you are not obligated to share anything you’ve written, but there will be opportunities to do so if you wish.
What to bring: Please bring something to write with (ideally a pen and notebook), comfortable walking shoes, and a water bottle. Optional: A picnic blanket in case there is a chance to sit and work outside for a spell. You are also welcome to bring snacks to eat throughout the workshop.
Accessibility: The session will be a mix of walking and sitting; please be prepared to be on your feet for some time (approximately 1.5 hours), and for being outdoors. For any questions, concerns, or accommodation requests, please write to Demi, the facilitator, via Eventbrite.
