April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month! Come embark on a one mile walk around Bright Park in Pearl MS while overcoming obstacle stations that symbolize the healing journey for those who have survived sexual violence.
*Admission is FREE.* Waters will be provided.
At every quarter mile, an obstacle station symbolizing various stages of the healing process.
• Station 1: Cones of Emotion-Participants navigate through cones representing different emotional stages of healing, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging and processing emotions.
• Stage 2: Hula hoop Hopscotch-Participants engage in a fun activity with hula hoops arranged like hopscotch, promoting coordination and the ability to navigate challenging situations.
• Stage 3: Balance Beam of Healing- Participants walk across a balance beam (a piece of wood) representing the path to healing. Even if they stumble, the focus is on getting back up and continuing the journey!
Closing Ceremony and Reflection (10:30am to 11:00am):
• Participants gather for a closing ceremony.
• Reflections on the walk and obstacles overcome are shared.
• Resources and support services for survivors are provided.
