Walk on the Wild Side

Tour begins promptly at 10 a.m. at the Black Island trailhead in Parking Lot #2. The closest restroom and water fountain are at the Welcome and Discovery Center in Parking Lot #3. For questions, call 239-707-6328.

Join a park ranger for a guided hike along our Black Island Trail. Learn about the fascinating vegetation and wildlife that reside in our maritime hammock ecosystem and enjoy a little local history along the way.

Closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, and water bottles are highly recommended.

ADA Info: 1.0 mi length trip, uneven dirt / shell path, may encounter puddles on trail, 22 ft optional hill will be climbed & descended, mix of shade and sun, poison ivy will be pointed out along side of trail, and a trail wheelchair is available.

Space is limited; reservations are required.
