DESCRIPTION: Join Waco Walks March 8 for a tour of the Lake Waco Wetlands. Created in 2000 to mitigate the habitat loss caused by raising the water level of Lake Waco, the Wetlands offers nature trails, bird watching, photography…and peace of mind. The Research and Education Center helps students from Baylor, Texas Tech, MCC, TSTC, and local K-12 schools learn about water quality and conservation. Nora Schell, Program Coordinator for the Wetlands, will lead our tour. We will step off March 8 at 9:30 AM at the Lake Waco Wetlands Education Center. 1752 Eichelberger Crossing Road, China Spring. ACCESSIBILITY: The area around the Research & Education Center is ADA compliant, but the trails are gravel so not necessarily the easiest. A wheelchair or scooter with all-terrain tires would probably be OK.
HYDRATION: Please bring your own water.
DOGS: Dogs welcome, but they MUST be on a leash, and you MUST scoop the poop!
WEATHER/CANCELLATION PLAN: We plan to walk rain or shine, so if it looks like rain, bring an umbrella. In the event that it is a terrible storm or something happens and we have to cancel, we will send out a note to the email list. To subscribe to the email list, click here: http://eepurl.com/cG7kdj.
