This workshop focuses on waacking, a freestyle dance form created in Los Angeles during the 1970s. This expressive style is marked by rapid arm movements, dramatic poses, and storytelling elements. Through waacking, the original waackers found freedom within a society that shunned them for their race, sexual orientation, and gender expression.
In this workshop, we'll cover history, drills, musicality exercises, and tools for developing your own freestyle.
