Also in this session, Elizabeth Whitelock, AIIA’s CEO and Chris Wren, AIIA’s General Manager Policy & Media will share insights from the AIIA’s work across the country, exploring how initiatives undertaken at both a state and national level are creating changes for our industry. Drawing on on-the-ground experience they will unpack the broader implications for policy and what it means for members wherever they operate.

Michael has 40 years in the industry development and economic diversification space. He specialised in international market development for 15 years bringing this knowledge base to strategic policy at a state level including early investigation of renewable energy technologies and opportunities. Most recently Michael is Manager, Digital Industries where he is the contact point to support data centre investors and provide cross government insights on digital infrastructure.

Izzy Whitelock is an accomplished technology executive and CEO of the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), representing Australia’s technology sector and leading national engagement between industry and government on digital transformation, innovation, and responsible AI.
With a career spanning data, analytics, AI, and privacy across HealthTech, Aged Tech, and National Security, Izzy has built a reputation for translating complex technology into real-world impact. She has successfully led an AI company from seed funding through to ASX listing and has advised government agencies, universities, and scaling tech ventures on strategy, governance, and ethical innovation.
Izzy has extensive experience navigating multi-stakeholder environments - from the National Intelligence Community and defence to healthcare and financial services - and is known for fostering trusted relationships across public and private sectors.
As a board member, mentor, and advocate for tech-for-good initiatives, she is deeply committed to advancing Australia’s innovation capability, ensuring technology serves people, communities, and the nation’s long-term interests.
