VTIS Kanada: Z zahoda na vzhod: prvi VTIS dogodek v Montrealu

An evening of international business, diplomacy and creativity, all under one roof. 30 October 2026 in Montreal.
About this Event

Following a successful evening in Vancouver, the VTIS Canada Local Committee is taking another major step forward - 4,500 kilometres further east, we are organising the VTIS Association’s first official event in Montreal!

Our aim is clear: to bring the Slovenian community, creatives and professionals in Canada closer together with the wider region, and to build lasting bridges between Slovenia and North America.

During this unique evening, we will bring together three worlds: international business, diplomacy and creativity.

Who will be joining us? 👥

We will be joined by exceptional guests, each of whom, in their own field, plays a significant role in fostering ties between the two countries:

🟣Andrej Medica, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Canada

• Following his opening address, he will outline specific opportunities for cooperation between Slovenia and Canada - ranging from people-to-people ties to strategic links between institutions and businesses. He sees key potential primarily in the similarities between the two countries: a shared focus on science, technology and innovation, and a passion for sport, nature and an active lifestyle.

🟣Primož Plestenjak, President & CEO, Elan Sports, Inc.

• He will present the inspiring international story of the Elan brand and reveal the background and business strategy of Elan Sports in the demanding North American market.

🟣Simon Pribac, founder of SCI_ART, trade adviser at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Ottawa and head of the VTIS Canada Local Committee

• As an official representative of the VTIS Association, he will speak about the importance of bringing together Slovenians, their descendants and all friends of Slovenia in Canada. As he puts it: "A diaspora can’t live on nostalgia. Earlier generations built our community through churches, halls and summer camps. Without a reason for younger generations to stay connected, it fades. VTIS gives them that reason: a network built around their education, careers and curiosity, where Slovenia becomes a real opportunity, not just a memory."

🟣Becca Swan, Singer, Songwriter, Author & Independent Pop Artist

• Montreal-based artist blends theatrical pop, unwavering femininity and deeply personal storytelling in her music. Her desire to explore Slovenian culture has brought her to our stage, and she compares intercultural connection to a unique recipe: “a dash of blues, a pinch of rock and a touch of jazz”. The artist, who has previously performed in front of French President Emmanuel Macron, will share her artistic journey with us and enrich the evening with an exclusive musical performance.

Join us for an evening of new insights, star-studded conversations and fresh ideas that connect Slovenia and Canada! 🇸🇮🇨🇦
