About our playgroup (how it runs)
Our Playgroup is community-led, run by the parents and carers who attend, with support from two wonderful volunteers and the VPCC team.
We don’t have a facilitator or cleaner, so everyone pitches in with:
* setting up
* packing down
* general tidying
This helps us keep the group affordable and friendly, but we understand it may not suit everyone.
We absolutely love hearing your ideas for activities, toys, and resources. Together, we aim to create a fun, inclusive, and vibrant space for all families.
Child safety, volunteering, and checks (2026 update)
To support a safe environment for children, VPCC Playgroup follows child-safe, community standards and welcomes any concerns being raised early.
WA has also continued strengthening its child-safe organisation approach, including oversight arrangements announced in 2025.
Commissioner for Children and Young People WA [https://ccyp.wa.gov.au/]
If you volunteer in a way that involves regular child-related work, we may ask you to hold a WA Working with Children Check (WWCC).
WA has introduced reforms to strengthen WWCC arrangements, including moves toward national consistency where a negative notice in one jurisdiction is recognised across Australia (“banned in one, banned in all”).

Photography, privacy, and social media (please read)
Please be mindful when taking photos or videos during sessions. If other children may appear in your photos/videos, please obtain permission from their parent/guardian first.
We provide red “no photos” stickers for anyone who prefers not to be photographed.
Privacy laws have also been strengthened in Australia (including reforms commencing from 10 December 2024, with some further changes staged through 2025-2026). This is another reason we ask families to be extra careful with images and personal information.

And a reminder: Australia’s new under-16 social media rules (effective 10 December 2025) place obligations on platforms around underage accounts, so please take extra care about where and how children’s images are shared online.
