Volunteer with Kiwanis Club-Preparing Hot Meals and Snack Bags

Join the Kiwanis Club of Washington, D.C. as we support Loaves and Fishes with a morning of service preparing and distributing hot meals and assembling to-go bags with shelf-stable food items. This volunteer opportunity helps serve approximately 200 community members, many of whom experience food insecurity during the end-of-month crunch and the summer months, when youth may lack access to school-based nutrition. Since most Washington food programs serve only on weekdays, the program offers a crucial service to its guests, some of whom travel across te city to be able to eat on the weekend.

Volunteers will be working in a fast-paced kitchen and dining room environment—helping with meal prep, plating, distribution, and cleanup. Your time and energy will directly support individuals and families in high need, and your presence helps us continue this long-standing Kiwanis partnership.

• Comfortable, closed-toe shoes
• Hair tie or hat if you have long hair
• Clothing you don’t mind getting a little messy
• Optional: reusable water bottle
