About this Event
Global Growers Network is a non-profit organization based in Atlanta that aims to promote sustainable agriculture and community building by providing immigrant and refugee farmers with access to land, education, and markets. Volunteers can support this mission by working alongside the farmers in the fields and assisting with administrative tasks. By volunteering, you can learn about sustainable agriculture, meet people from diverse backgrounds, and make a positive impact on the local community.
No prior farm experience is needed: just an enthusiasm for working hard and getting your hands dirty!
S ome of our Volunteer Day activities may include:
- Landscaping: picking up trash, moving materials such as large rocks or trimmed branches, raking leaves
- Garden care: weeding, mulching beds or pathways, spreading compost
- Special projects (as needed)
Here are a few items you should bring or think through for a successful day on the farm:
- Closed toed shoes that can get muddy. We also require closed toed shoes to protect the feet. No sandals please, or you may be asked to do another activity
- Outdoor appropriate clothing (preferably synthetic or comfortable, active clothing). Please wear clothes you also don't mind getting dirty
- Bring a full water bottle — a reusable bottle or sports bottle is the best option. We have the option to refill water bottles on site at the farm
- A snack — trail mix or granola bars work best
- Hat and/or bandana
- Sunscreen SPF (Sun Protection Factor) 30 and above
- Bug spray if desired
- Working gloves if you have some
In order to participate, you will need to sign a digital waiver
We look forward to spending a Saturday Volunteer Day with you!
