About this Event
Did you know Public Lands Day is the single largest outdoor volunteer day in the nation?
To celebrate this day, we would love your help keeping Circle B beautiful and beneficial to our native wildlife. We plan to accomplish this goal by conducting invasive plant removals and a litter roundup.
Those planning to participate should bring water, sun protection, gloves, wear long pants, and comfortable closed-toed shoes.
If you plan to participate in this event, it is required that you are a registered Polk County Volunteer. If you are not already a Polk County Volunteer, you can join our team by filling out the Polk County Volunteer Registration found here: https://www.polk-county.net/about/volunteer/
Come work the whole time, or just for an hour. Any help is always appreciated and our public lands thank you!
Date & Time : September 27th, 9:00am-11:30am
Location: All participants should plan to meet on the Discovery Center board walk, leading into the center. (Please see the map below.)
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Invasive Plant Removal: Participants may choose to help remove invasive plants in the Pollinator Garden (located outside the center), or in other designated areas around the center.
- Litter Roundup: Participants may chose to hike Alligator Alley, or any open trail of their choice, and collect litter as they go. (Litter Roundup participants must stay on the designated trails at all times.)
- PLEASE NOTE: Those participating in the invasive plant removal may be off trail and on uneven terrain.
