Volunteer Christmas Gift Wrapping Sessions ROOP

At Reading Out of Poverty (ROOP), one of our most cherished traditions is wrapping and gifting books to underprivileged children during Christmas. Each year, we provide brand-new, specially gift-wrapped books to families facing financial hardship. Our goal is to spark the joy of reading in children from low-income backgrounds, migrant and refugee communities, Indigenous families, and those in remote areas.

ROOP will host gift-wrapping sessions at our office in St Kilda. With a large number of books to wrap, we need all the help we can get. The books will be distributed to children during November and December, with each book being individually wrapped by volunteers.

NOTE: As parking in the area is very limited, please plan to use public transport when attending.

• Gift-Wrapping Volunteers
  Do you love wrapping presents? Then this is the perfect opportunity for you! No experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm, and we’ll provide all the training and guidance you need on the day. Please sign up only if you are available on the listed dates, as spots are limited.

• Delivery Volunteers
  Do you have a car and a desire to make a child's Christmas special? We need volunteers to help deliver the wrapped books to various locations across Melbourne, such as playgroups, community centres, medical facilities, and more. You can choose a delivery location that’s convenient for you.

• Financial or Book Donations
  You can also support our efforts by making a financial donation to ROOP, which will help us purchase new books for this initiative and continue our work with disadvantaged communities across Victoria. Alternatively, you can buy new books, gift-wrap them, and drop them off at our office or other designated locations.
