Come help us look after our community food forest and sing to the trees in the hopes of a good harvest this year!
About this Event

Join us for some volunteer activities from 2-4pm including weeding, mulching, pruning and caring for the fruit trees and bushes. All tools provided. If you can bring your own gardening gloves that would be helpful but we'll have some available. Find out more about what's planted and the story behind this community space. Kids are welcome but must be closely supervised and the activities are not suitable for children under 6 years old.

At 4pm we'll light the fire and enjoy a cup of mulled apple juice and some songs. Wassailing is an old New Year tradition that involves visiting neighbours, coming together as a community and celebrating the apple harvest with cider in the orchard (though we'll only have apple juice on offer!) There are many different songs and musical traditions associated with wassailing. We'll be sharing some Scottish and English folk songs that you can join in with. If you have an instrument or a song that that you'd like to share, you'd be most welcome.

We'll end the day with a toast to the trees who will hopefully bring us a bumper crop of fruit this year!

To ensure Covid safety, we'll be outside and observing 1m social distancing. There will be hand gel available. We kindly request that you take a lateral flow test before attending.

Alexandra Park Food Forest is opposite the Bike Hub, near the Sannox Gardens entrance to the park.
