Volleyball Referee Officiating Advanced TrainingDid you know there is a shortage of Illinois High School Association volleyball referees? Carl Sandburg College's Corporate & Leisure College is offering an IHSA volleyball referee training to teach individuals the fundamentals of volleyball and how to officiate games. The average pay to officiate games is between $30-35 an hour.
Officiating Advanced Course - prior experience required (or student is currently enrolled in the Officiating Basics Course)
Dates: July 8-August 19, 2021 (6 classes total; no class on August 5) every Thursday
Class time: 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Course Goals:
-learn techniques on communicating to partner and coaches
-learn advanced techniques on player alignment
-learn how to score keep using NHFS procedures
Cost: $60, no course book required
*Minimum registration age is 17
*Classes facilitated by Tony Oligney-Estill, Director of Galesburg Parks & Recreation
*In-person classes on Galesburg's Main Campus or virtual classes
Any new prospective official will receive a waiver to register with the IHSA to become a certified volleyball official.
