Voicing Masculinities
About this Event
A free CPD showcase of our new touring production for young people, Voicing Masculinities, written by Frances Stone, Stuart Morris and Leon Wander.
Voicing Masculinities explores the pressures facing boys and young men today, including mental health, masculinity, peer pressure, racism, misogyny and the influence of online culture. Through live performance, music, media and participatory theatre techniques, the production is designed to engage Year 9-11 students in thinking critically about the expectations placed on young men, how these pressures affect their relationships and wellbeing, and how they can make positive choices.
The performance forms part of a wider drama and workshop programme that creates space for young people to talk openly about masculinity, emotional wellbeing and the challenges they experience in their everyday lives. At a time when schools and professionals are increasingly concerned about boys’ mental health and the impact of harmful online influences, Voicing Masculinities aims to support constructive conversations, build emotional literacy and encourage young people to seek support when they need it.
This free showcase is particularly aimed at teachers, pastoral and safeguarding staff, youth workers and other professionals working with young people, offering an opportunity to see the production and explore how the programme can support work in schools and youth settings.
