Does your child or grandchild love music and singing?
We're delighted to be launching Voices Up – Ecumenical Youth Gospel Choir, offering young people aged 11–18 in Milton Keynes the opportunity to learn from professional musicians, make friends, grow in confidence and experience the joy of performing together.
Our Musical Director is Elaine Simpson, a founding member and former lead soloist of The Kingdom Choir, who has worked with artists including Jacob Collier, Gregory Porter and Emeli Sandé.
The choir was founded by Revd Peterson Feital, whose work in London's creative industries has included producing Motown and gospel concerts with internationally acclaimed musicians such as Mo Pleasure, as well as work with the BBC and supporting artists through The Haven+ London.
We're also working with Professor Gini Harrison, Professor of Psychology at The Open University, to explore how music can support young people's confidence, wellbeing and sense of belonging.
No previous singing experience is needed. We simply want young people to discover what they can achieve with the right encouragement and opportunities.
First rehearsal: Thursday 12 November, 7–8.30pm
St James' Church, New Bradwell, Milton Keynes
Parents are very welcome to come along and meet Elaine.
If you have a child or grandchild who loves music, or know a young person who might enjoy this opportunity, please encourage them to come along!
An initiative of Stantonbury Ecumenical Partnership, supported by the Diocese of Oxford.
