On Monday, September 22, our very own, Beverly Vaillancourt, will present “Voices of the Civil War” at 6 pm in the library’s Community Room.
Meet Sauk County soldiers Mair Pointon, Phillip Cheek, Benjamin Douglass, D.W. Hitchcock, and William S. McCready and hear their stories of a time when unspeakable horror was met with courage and resolve. From these five soldiers we hear the stories not only of the battlefield, but also of their deep commitment to their country and brothers in arms, and to duty and honor. It is the story of the Civil War (1861 - 1865) told not just by dates and events, but of the hopes and fears of the men who traveled hundreds of miles from home to uncertainty, always yearning to return.
