About this Event
We're continuing our monthly open mic series at Communities for Recovery!
The evening opens with a conversation with Solis Rough, a storyteller, relationship coach, and founder of Rough House. Solis is a pillar of the Austin recovery community, contributing leadership to Capital of Texas Conference, the annual Sober Superbowl Chili Cook-Off, and Trudgefest. As a person in long-term recovery, Solis believes in the power of "enough," and after 36 years of marriage to his husband, Rob, Solis understands the dedication necessary continue growing and often compares recovery to walking up an escalator moving down: to stay where you are, you must keep climbing. He'll sit down with our MC to share his story and take questions from the audience.
The second half is yours. We'll open the mic to anyone who signs up to perform or share — poetry, music, storytelling, spoken word, whatever moves you. This is a space to express yourself, support each other, and celebrate creativity and recovery. Everyone who signs up gets 7 minutes. Want to perform? Follow this to sign up. We encourage everyone to sign up — all experience levels, all forms of expression.
Free food and drinks will be provided.
