About this Event

If you are from Lowell, you probably know Roberto Clemente Park, or Pailin Park, as an epicenter of Cambodian American social life. But what makes Pailin Park a Cambodian park in an American city? This workshop explores this question by considering sound as resrouce with which Cambodian Americans in Lowell have claimed cultural spaces and identities since arriving in the city as refugees nearly 50 years ago. We will dicuss ways that people use sounds and voices to make place in Cambodian Lowell, and together we will create our own "soundmaps" of the newly renovated Celemente Park.
