COME JOIN US at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center, 10201 S. Cottage Grove Ave., Chicago, IL on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm as the Conrad Worrill Community Reparations Commission (CWCRC) and Operation Legacy Give Back presents Voices of Freedom: The Faith, Justice & Voter Experience.

The purpose of the event is to serve as a pivotal moment to galvanize the reparations and civic engagement movement. Voices of Freedom is a nonpartisan civic engagement initiative designed to unite local and national reparations leaders, community members, clergy, youth, and elected officials in a powerful demonstration of solidarity around voting rights, democratic participation, and reparatory justice. Draped in gospel inspiration, the program leverages the national spotlight on the 250th Anniversary of the United States to amplify the call for reparations, educate the public, and influence legislative redress in remembrance of the ancestors of the Descendants of Enslaved Africans.

Event Details

Voices of Freedom will take place Friday, August 21, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center, 10201 S. Cottage Grove Avenue, Chicago, IL 60628. Tickets are free, with VIP tickets available for $10, free parking, kids welcome with adults, and a full selection of food vendors and community resources on-site. This voter experience is designed to uplift the community through inspirational music and live entertainment while highlighting ongoing reparations awareness and advocacy in Chicago.

Featured Talent, Program, and Collaborators

The experience will feature NBA Legend Terry Cummings, NBA Hall of Famer Tim Hardaway, special guest Robin Rue Simmons, Congressman Johnathan Jackson, and other NBA legends, who will bring a high-energy, spiritually grounded performances and presence to the day and encourage civic participation among young people and families. Deputy registrars will be on-site to provide voter registration assistance and registration checks, while community partners and reparations advocates share educational resources and information about the importance of civic involvement.

Designed as a safe, accessible gathering for all ages, Voices of Freedom offers free admission, convenient parking, and a welcoming venue that encourages families, churches, teams, and neighborhood organizations to participate together. In alignment with CWCRC’s mission, the event uses music, sports, culture, and shared experiences as tools to deepen public understanding of reparations, build solidarity across Chicago’s 77 community areas, and strengthen relationships between residents, advocates, and policymakers—organizing under the banner #FaithJusticeVote.

VIP Guest will receive a VIP Seating Tickets. VIP Guest are offered early entry for meet and greet with NBA celebrities, political officials, CWCRC. and artists. VIP will also get a CWCRC Reparations T-shirt which may be autographed.

Doors will open promptly at 3:30 pm. VIP early access starts at 2:00pm. Meet and Greet starts at 2:00 pm. All guest should be in your seat for the main event no later than 3:15 pm. We will begin programming promptly at 4:00 pm CST. The production is anticipated to last no later than 6 h 00 m.

Food and Book Bag Giveaways are on a first come first serve basis. All children must be present to receive a bookbag and accompanied by an adult. Supplies while they last.

Seating is provided on a first come first served basis. Seating is limited; therefore, it is suggested that you purchase your tickets in advance.

Check-In. A Guest list will be available upon arrival for this event. If you are not able to attend and want to transfer your ticket(s) a physical ticket must be in presented. Guest will not be permitted to attend the screening without a registered ticket. Please keep your tickets in a safe place.

Social Distancing is optional and strongly encouraged. If you are under the weather, we ask that you be courteous and please email us at [email protected] so that we may send you link to livestream the event from the comfort of your home. Proof of Vaccination does not need to be presented.

Donations to the Conrad Worrill Community Reparations Commission help fuel reparations initiatives for the community not only in Chicago but throughout Illinois. CWCRC is an educational fundraiser hosted by a 501C3 organization. Please consult your tax advisor for tax deduction information. All sales are final. No refunds will be provided.
