Mark your calendars for a special event on Saturday, October 12 at 2 p.m. The Mount Holyoke Club of Hartford is partnering with CT's Old State House for this event, which will feature a dramatic reading of Bessy Reyna’s poem “Freedom Journeys in Four Voices” by Bessy (Class of 1970) and friends, as well as a reading by Kate Rushin of her poetry celebrating the life of Marian Anderson, who lived in Danbury for more than 50 years. Bessy’s poem tells the story of Nancy Jackson, the young slave woman granted her freedom in 1837 (a landmark year in many respects!) by the Supreme Court of Errors located at the Old State House. This event will be free and open to the public. Parking:
Free on street parking is available all day on Saturdays.
