About this Event

Voices of Francophone Cinema Festival, 6th Edition: Our ties - ce qui nous lie

Through six films, this 6th edition of the Voices of Francophone Cinema Festival explores the ties and connections we share with one another. Each film opens up conversations about the possibility of love and connection — to others, to ourselves, and to the world around us — and about how we keep going and stay open in societies far less compassionate than we would wish.

Each film has sparked conversation across the Francophone world(s), pushing boundaries beyond our languages and cultures. The festival aims to bring these films and conversations to audiences here and to build on them together.

As is our tradition each year, this edition will be led and guided by a student jury. To our students and our audience, we express our deepest gratitude.

The festival is a collective effort, and we wish to thank La Maison Française, the NYU Department of French Literature, Thought and Culture, the Villa Albertine, UniFrance, the Young French Cinema program, and the brilliant people behind the programming: Sandrine Neveux and Anne Takahashi.

Festival Creator & Curator: Anna-Caroline Prost

Put Your Soul On Your Hand and Walk, by Sepideh Farsi

PUT YOUR SOUL ON YOUR HAND AND WALK is a haunting testament to the resilience of daily life under siege in Gaza. Captured through a filmmaker's video calls with Palestinian photojournalist Fatma Hassona, these calls act as a powerful digital lifeline to the realities of war, resistance and survival.
