About this Event
Join us Thursday, February 19th for a community centered writing experience guided by VOICES Creative Director and Grammy nominated poet Aja Monet. Hosted as part of the VOICES exhibition at the historic Free Library of Philadelphia, this workshop invites participants to explore storytelling as a practice of testimony, care, and memory making. Together, we will use writing as a way to listen more deeply to ourselves and one another. Open to writers and non writers alike. No prior writing experience is required. Come as you are.
About VOICES!
VOICES is an interdisciplinary audio play and campaign presented by V-Day. The project is designed to uplift the voices of Black women across the diaspora and to use art as a way to inspire solidarity making in our collective imagination. VOICES invites us to step out of the stories that have been constructed for us and to form new narratives and realities for ourselves. It calls on us to awaken our capacity to listen, deepen our solidarity, and cultivate a world where all people and the planet live free from harm.
