About this Event
This day course introduces the Voice Skills Framework, a structured way of describing what is heard and seen in a voice, to better understand the physical contributions and to choose appropriate action. A range of related exercises will be explored.
Teaching method will mix PowerPoint presentation with extensive experiential work and exercises designed to mend, to strengthen and to extend a voice. These are not related to specific voice disorders, but this can be explored in the time allocated for questions and discussion.
Although primarily aimed at adults, many exercises can easily be adapted for children.
Most of the practical work is described in Voice Work: Art and Science in Changing Voices (Shewell 2009), but handouts are given for the Voice Analysis Scheme protocol, and for the key exercises covered in the day.
The atmosphere of the day is designed to be friendly, warm and sometimes even humorous.
All experiential work can be adjusted for any participant with a physical limitation.
