Welsh baritone Jeremy Huw Williams and The University of Arizona Associate Professor of Practice in Piano Daniel Linder will present a recital of vocal music by English and American composers at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11. Their program features George Butterworth’s Six Songs from a Shropshire Lad, a cycle which reflects on the lives of British soldiers who died in the service of Queen Victoria paired with Pines’ Last Poems; a new cycle by Tucson-based composer Daniel Asia which confronts impending mortality, the ambiguity of Spring and death, and memories of the Vietnam War.
Williams and Linder will also perform a selection of Welsh folk song arrangements by Benjamin Britten, a lively selection of Cabaret Songs by William Bolcom, and a world premiere setting of Psalm 13 by Joshua Nichols. Guitarist Pablo Gonzalez will also perform with Jeremy a world premiere by Zachary James Bramble.
