About this Event
Join VOCA for "WINTER'S LIGHT" on Sat., Dec. 20, 2025 at 7:30 pm.
The VOCA Chorus of Toronto is looking forward to presenting “Winter’s Light” at our new concert venue, Eglinton St. George's (ESG) United Church at 7:30 pm on Saturday, December 20, on the cusp of the winter solstice.
We'll perform a variety of selections to celebrate the season that evening, including exciting world premieres by two of Canada’s most celebrated composers, Sarah Quartel (A Song of Hope) and Mark Sirett (Winter Solstice).
We’ll also be featuring Sarah Quartel's enchanting cycle A Winter Day - five contrasting movements, each depicting a different time of day, with texts by poets including Lucy Maud Montgomery; Andrew Balfour's stunning Anang (A Star), which VOCA commissioned in 2019 and premiered in 2022; a funky Pentatonix setting of Carol of the Bells; deeply moving works by Stephanie Martin and Elaine Hagenburg; a joyous setting of I Saw Three Ships arranged by Vancouver's Ed Henderson which will feature all of our performers... and much more.
Three fabulous guest artists will be joining us, all frequent VOCA collaborators: cellist , percussionist and organist .
Our annual carol sing, scrumptious bake sale and raffle will perfectly round out the evening.
