Once again, Taberna del Alabardero is proud to present its highly anticipated monthly wine dinner—an experience that has become a highlight for our guests. Each month, we feature a prestigious Spanish winery and craft an exclusive, thoughtfully designed menu to showcase its most iconic wines, paired with our traditional Spanish cuisine.
On this occasion, we are honored to welcome the historic Viña Otano, a family winery whose origins date back to 1886, when “Grandfather Don Román Montaña” began producing and aging wines, laying the foundation for generations of master winemakers. Today, the grandchildren continue this legacy with great success in Fuenmayor – La Rioja, in the sub-zone of Rioja Alta, a region renowned for producing wines of exceptional quality and aging potential.
Viña Otano’s vineyards range from 30 to 95 years old, combining estate-grown fruit with carefully selected grapes from nearby vineyards under their direction. Their meticulous methods include multiple thinning passes, mechanical weeding without chemicals, organic fertilization, and hand-harvesting of fully ripe grapes, ensuring wines of remarkable character.
