Vivalon's Digital Empowerment Week: DAY 2

Wednesday, 3/15: Online Safety and Scam Awareness

Join Marin County's FAST Team to learn how to protect yourself and your personal information in today’s rapidly changing digital world. This session helps you recognize common scams, phishing emails, fraudulent phone calls, and privacy risks that often target older adults. We’ll also explore how Artificial Intelligence is being used to create increasingly convincing “deepfake” voice messages, fake videos, and highly personalized scam attempts—and what simple steps you can take to avoid being fooled. Then, put your knowledge into action during a 1.5-hour hands-on clinic staffed by Vivalon’s Volunteer Tech Tutors. With individualized guidance and encouragement from experienced volunteers and local high school students, you’ll practice spotting red flags, strengthening passwords, and building the confidence to stay safe online.

Schedule of the Day:

• 1:30–2:30 PM — Lecture
• 2:30–3:00 PM — Break with Refreshments
• 3:00–4:30 PM — Hands-on Tech Clinic (optional)
