About this Event
In this hands-on workshop geared toward older adults, participants will use gel plate printing, a process that uses paint, stencils, and a reusable gel surface to create layered impressions on fabric, to build a textile portrait. Working with photographs, fabric, and paint, you'll create a printed image and assemble it into a quilt portrait to take home.
No prior experience is needed. All materials are provided at no cost. Participants will leave with their finished piece and a take-home kit to continue experimenting. Lunch and refreshments are included, and free parking is available in the Glassell garage.
This workshop is part of the Vitality Arts series, presented by the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, in partnership with the Community Artists' Collective and its Jubilee Quilt Circle. The Quilters in Residence program at the Glassell School of Art is sponsored by E.A. Michelson Philanthropy.
