About this Event
Visualising Climate Change Through Art & Storytelling: A Graphic Novel Launch
Come join us to celebrate the launch of Chasing the Curlew's Call / Ar Lorg Ghlao an Chrotaigh, a graphic novel that has been created through a unique collaboration between UCC researchers, Met Éireann, and public co-design workshops.
Exploring new approaches to climate communication, the project brings together climate science, ecological research, visual storytelling and participatory design to develop new ways of conveying climate change and its real-world ripple effects.
The evening will feature an exhibition tracing the development of this work – from initial concept to narrative design, to visual art creation, the Irish translation and young people's creative responses to this work. It will include an address by Met Éireann on their support for this innovative approach to climate communication as part of the TRANSLATE research project, as well as a panel discussion on the participatory processes behind this work. To close, we will share insights from youth workshops and highlight how educators and the wider public can get involved.
