Visual Resonance

Culture.Room is proud to present our new group exhibition: „Visual Resonance“ located in the MBzwo Showroom at Rummelsbucht, Berlin. The show includes paintings and sculptures by Moritz Berg, Katsuhiko Matsubara, Christopher Kieling, Lilian Mühlenkamp and Esther Valerie Riegler.

„Visual Resonance“ is on view for 2 months starting from Saturday, June 10th until Saturday, August 12th.

„Resonance“ is generally understood as the oscillation of a system due to outside stimuli. If the stimulating frequency corresponds to the natural frequency of the resonating body, then a vibration many times stronger than at other frequencies occurs.

However, the term is often used in a figurative sense, describing a deep and strong affirmation with something that “moves” us due to its beauty or emotional depth. According to some of the early expressionists, visual works of art can develop a natural frequency of their own, resonating with the viewer, and compared this effect to music, a highly subjective but at times deeply moving art form whose impact often defies any attempt at rational explanation.

Facilitating this resonance on a subjective level rather than on the basis of certain art historical backgrounds, supposed references, or public opinion forms the curatorial core of this show.
