Visual Journals: Creating with Images and Words (ages 11-18)

Join Visual Artist David Modler for an engaging 2-week journaling series. Each workshop that will explore image making and writing processes using mixed media art materials in a visual journal. Instruction will focus on addressing personal themes and concepts; while learning a variety of watercolor painting, collage and image transfer techniques.
All supplies provided. Attendance is highly encouraged for both sessions but not required. For grades 6-12.
About the Artist: David Modler is a maker, scholar and professor from Baltimore, Maryland. He earned his B.S. and M.Ed. degrees in Art Education from Towson State University and his M.F.A. in studio practice from James Madison University. Modler works obsessively in visual journals, and his work is rooted in art and social practice structures, cultivating community engagement, and exploring collaborative systems. He currently serves as a fully tenured Professor of Art, Coordinator of Art Education, and the Chair of the Department of Contemporary Art, Communication, and Theater at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
