Visual Journaling: Exploring Nature at Live Oak Park

Join artist Dawline-Jane Oni-Eseleh for an engaging exploration of creative ways to visually document our daily surroundings. We will stroll through Live Oak Park, where you can see a variety of California native plants that have historically been used for food, shelter, and medicinal purposes. After our walk, we will take some time to draw what we observe and share our personal perspectives. Participants will also have the exciting opportunity to experiment with handmade inks crafted from foraged materials!

All ages and abilities welcome. Please dress for walking and the weather.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Dawline-Jane Oni-Eseleh is an Oakland-based artist and educator. Her mixed-media art draws inspiration from memory, family stories, her cultural heritage in the Diaspora, the natural world, and the evolving urban landscape. Dawline-Jane draws from self-constructed archives and combines relief printmaking, painting, and drawing techniques to tell stories of the world as she experiences it. She attended The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in NYC and has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. Her illustrations have appeared in The LA Times, Science Friday, ProPublica, and Teen Vogue. Links: Instagram / Website

WORKSHOP REFUND POLICY: BAC reserves the right to cancel any class due to low enrollment or other circumstances. In this case, you can request a tuition refund. No refunds are issued for days missed due to illness, family travel, or any no-show.

You can cancel at any time by emailing [email protected]. To receive a full refund, you have to cancel 7 days before the start of the workshop. With fewer than 7 days’ notice, you will receive a 50% refund. If you cancel with less than 72 hrs before the first day of the workshop, you are not eligible for a refund.
