Our sesquicentennial (150th) event will be a visit to Holocaust Centre North ("HCN")."HCN" is a permanent exhibition and learning centre on the University of Huddersfield campus created by the charity Holocaust Survivors’ Friendship Association. It seeks to raise awareness of human rights, freedom and equality by exploring one of the darkest chapters in contemporary history. You can learn more about it on the Holocaust Centre North website.
We have organised with HCN a special visit for the Forum on Sunday 3 November. The details are below.
11:00 Arrive at Holocaust Centre North.
11:00 - 12:15 Look around the exhibition.
12:15 - 13:15 Talk by Holocaust survivor Liesel Carter. She was born in Germany in 1935 and travelled alone at just four years old across Europe to escape Nazism. Her father and other family members were murdered by the Nazis.
13:15 - 15:00 Lunch and discussion in the HCN Learning Studio.
Please bring your own packed lunch. Hot drinks will be provided at no extra charge.
15:00 Leave HCN.
Booking - Places are limited to 30. Please email [email protected] to reserve your place. The booking deadline is the end of Tuesday 29 October.
Cost - £10 per person which includes the travel expenses of the survivor and the cost of the facilities at HCN including the tea and coffee.
After you book, we will email you our bank details so that you can pay us electronically to confirm your place. If you cannot make electronic payment, we will accept cash on the day.

Car sharing - Car sharing is best organised by yourself with your friends.
However, we are willing to try connecting people who need lifts and people who can offer lifts. If so, please email [email protected] telling us:

2. Whether your need a lift, OR whether you are offering a lift.
We will then share the list of people needing / offering lifts just with the people on that list so that they can contact each other by email so they can arrange things amongst themselves.
