Kirstie is a skilled osteopath based in London with a unique background in sports remedial massage and myofascial techniques. She completed her studies at the British School of Osteopathy and quickly became fascinated with Visceral Manipulation. Since 2006, Kirstie has studied directly with Jean-Pierre Barral and the Barral Institute, mastering techniques across Visceral, Neural, and Vascular Manipulation and incorporating them into her daily practice.
She is excited to share her passion and expertise in VM1 and guide you on your journey to adding transformative tools to your practice!
In this course, participants will learn an integrative approach to evaluation and treatment of the structural relationships between the viscera, and their fascial or ligamentous attachments to the musculoskeletal system. Strains in the connective tissue of the viscera can result from surgical scars, adhesion, illness, posture and injury. These strains can create fixed, abnormal points of tension that the body must move around, and this chronic irritation gives way to functional and structural problems. In VM1, participants will study the models and theories of functional biomechanics as viewed from Jean-Pierre Barral’s innovative approach.
Course Outcomes:
- The manual skills to locate, evaluate and normalize primary areas of dysfunction within the abdominal cavity;
- The dynamics of motion and suspension in relation to organs, membranes & ligaments;
- The relationship of organs and structural or neuro musculoskeletal dysfunction;
- How to assess the quality of functional activity & somatic structures as relates to an overall pattern.
Prerequisite: Professional healthcare practitioner licensed in manual therapy or a student presently enrolled in an accredited manual therapy training program.
With 90% of our students progressing to advanced levels, VM1 is the perfect entry point into a transformative approach.
