Between February 1692 and April 1693, at least twenty-five people died as a result of witchcraft hysteria. Over 150 more were accused and hundreds of others were caught up in the legal proceedings of this horrible debacle commonly known as “The Salem Witch Trials”. The Salem trials saw more people accused and executed than in all the previous witchcraft trials in New England. Many of those involved were from, or had ties to, Billerica; four of whom died. This program will introduce you to who they were and what roles they played in these tragic events.
This program will be presented by Kathy Meagher, who has worked for the Billerica Public Library for more than twenty-five years, the last twenty-two years as the Local History Specialist.
