This championship is a Qualifier for AAU Nationals and an important event our athletes need to attend.
The Virginia State Taekwondo Championship is Saturday February 22th in Fredericksburg VA
COMPETITION VENUE: Chancellor High School 6300 Harrison Rd. Fredericksburg VA 22407
Registration DUE February 12th
$99 for 1 or 2 events, $109 for 3 or more events.
Late Registration DUE February 19th. Late Fee is $20 additional.
DEMO Team registration $100 due by February 17th. DEMO Team registration must be done by School Owner, Coach, or Master. Each DEMO Team member must also be registered in individual events.

COACHES FEE:
Each school gets 1 FREE coaches pass. Additional coaches passes are $20 or FREE for every 10 registered athletes.
All coaches must have AAU membership, blue AAU coaches shirt, and completion of the 2025 mandatory online coaches certification. www.aautaekwondo.org

Event Schedule – Athletes should arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of your competition
Check in will start at 8:00 am.
Officials Meeting starts at 8:30 am
Olympic Sparring starts at 9:00 am
Traditional Forms starts at 1:00 pm
Breaking starts at 2:00 pm
Demo Competition 2:30 pm
Point Sparring starts at 3:30
OLYMPIC SPARRING (Kyoroogi):
All divisions will follow official AAU rules.
Sparring Competition will be single elimination and awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 3rd places.
Certain rules and/or regulations are subject to change at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.
Traditional Forms Open:
All divisions will follow AAU official rules.
TRADITIONAL FORMS Competition will be bracketed and awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 3rd place.
Rules for Breaking
```Scored format 6.0 - 10.0
```Each athlete may use multiple stations on their turn.
```Each station may have as many boards as you want (single technique for multiple boards such as a 3 board back kick break, or techniques that break multiple boards in one move such as a 540 triple kick.)
```Judges will score 6.0 - 10.0
```Highest score wins.
```No forehead breaks
```No jumping over people
```Boards must be purchased on site so everyone has the same boards.
```Medals for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd.
Rules for Adult Power Breaking
***Athletes get 1 attempt to break.
***Boards must be purchased on site so everyone uses the same boards.
***Boards ONLY. The winner is the person that breaks the most 1" boards with a single technique. Athletes will provide their own holders or board holding equipment.
***Acceptable techniques include Fist, Hammer fist, Palm, Knife hand, or Ridgehand.
***Winner wins a weapon***
Rules for Demo Team
***A minimum of three (3) team members (any rank)
***The Demo Team members must participate in individual event(s)
***All Team members & volunteers must be current AAU members and be registered as a Team Members. No coaches or volunteers will be allowed on the floor during the Demo Team performance.
***Demo Time: Maximum two (2) minutes set up, maximum six (6) minutes performance, maximum two (2) minutes for cleanup ***Judging Criteria: All technical Taekwondo skills are graded for execution, presentation, and difficulty. Teams are granted freedom to add creativity to their demonstration, however synchronization may or may not be part of the team demonstration. Demo Team performance criteria must include elements from forms/poomsae, board breaking, and self-defense. ***Scoring, Each Judge will provide three (3) sets of scores with a maximum of ten (10) points for originality, ten (10) points for technique, and ten (10) points for difficulty. Five (5) Judges will score each performance, with the highest and lowest scores being excluded. Final score is cumulative. In case of a tie, all lowest scores will be added back in, then all highest scores will be added back in to break the tie.
***Penalties: Exceeding time limit
******Over six (6) minutes will be a five (5) point penalty from the overall score
******Over six (6) minutes 30-second will be a ten (10) point penalty from the overall score
******Over seven (7) minutes will be disqualified
***All props are subject to inspection of Chief Referee, and may be prohibited if deemed unsafe.
***No jumping, flying, or going over individuals in any way will be allowed.
***Normal uniform and equipment requirements are waived for demo competition and may be selected by the team.
***Music and sound effects can be used.
***Boards are to be purchased at the competition venue per box.
***Handheld board holding poles and devices will be allowed as props for breaking (nothing can make contact with the floor).
***Any music containing vulgarity or profanity is an automatic disqualification
***Performance will be done in a matted ring on competition floor.
POINT SPARRING:
All divisions will follow official AAU rules.
