About this Event

Northumbria University's LGBTQ+ Equality Forum welcomes Jaime Garcia Iglesias, Chancellor's Fellow in the Centre for Biomedicine, Self and Society at the University of Edinburgh to introduce a comic book produced with artist Jordan Colleman.

The comic is titled “What does HIV Mean?” and explores how HIV holds multiple meanings for different gay men (from associations with the AIDS crisis to PrEP, to stigma). The comic contains real participant stories and words, and is based on research funded by the ESRC, as part of the "Viral Memories: from HIV to COVID-19 and beyond" project and has been produced with support from ‘The Histories of Sexual Health in Britain 1918-1980 Project.
