Violin Maker and Master Luthier Giorgio Grisales has crafted the finest in Italian Violins and Stringed instruments for over 30 years. Maestro Grisales has received numerous awards, and his instruments are appreciated all over the world.
Maestro Grisales’ latest masterpiece creation, a “Garimberti Personalizzato” violin, will travel from Italy, by way of Spain, into the hands of Maestro Henri Star where he hopes to unlock its deepest treasures and push the instrument to its fullest capabilities.
Henri Star says “I am honored to perform on this newest masterpiece of Giorgio Grisales. Maestro Grisales is located in the same city that Stradivarius built his 200 year old multi million dollar violins. I have played the violins of Stradivarius, and it is my belief the violins of Grisales are the modern instruments of this caliber”.
Henri Star and the Muhammad School of Music (MSOM) Chamber Players have put together a challenging and ambitious program including music, dance, theater, opera, visual art, and the exquisite Mozart Violin Concerto in A major which Mozart titled “The Turkish”.
Henri Star, who is a historian and scholar, has titled this concert “Viol of the Moors’. Henri Star hopes to point out some of the history of the violin and it’s origins, including the Moorish influences on the Arts in Europe. Henri Star says “one of the prototypes of the Violin is an ancient instrument called the ‘Viola d’Amore’. At first glance translation one would think it means ‘Viol of Love’; however with further research we find it’s real name is the ‘Viol of the Moors.’”
Henri Star says “part of my mission as a Black Classical Artist in a field where you rarely see black people, is to highlight our contributions as performers, composers, and even those who originated the instruments.”
October 16 is the birth anniversary of Henri Star, and he will be unveiling his new website www.HenriStar.com. The website will offer a unique and interactive musical experience, along with opportunities to view and download media, book engagements, and the virtual instruction programs of Muhammad School of Music.
