"A pungent and poignant folktale, conjuring little moments of magic by slowing down for long enough to notice all the details of two born outsiders who turned nature into their own private sanctuary." — RogerEbert.com
"Built around the irresistible presence of bickering sixtysomething siblings Ondrej and František Klišík, Miro Remo's funny, earthily poetic hybrid documentary is a Karlovy Vary discovery." — Variety
"A remarkable documentary that proves to be the best recent film about twins...and, most potently, a mirthful musing about what it is that gives life value." — The Wrap
ABOUT BETTER GO MAD IN THE WILD
Impossible to categorize, much to filmmaker Miro Remo's delight, Better Go Mad in the Wild is filled with poetry, magical realism, and the rambunctious and eccentric twins František Klišík, the Czech poet and his brother Ondrej. Oh yes, and a talking cow.
Filmed with verite intimacy over a period of five years, the film is an endearing portrait of these brothers in the Bohemian Forest who have chosen seclusion over society. To heighten the twins' connection to their animals and the forested hills they call home, Remo imbues the film with the fantastic, blurring the lines between their primitive lives and their sublime philosophical musings about life, death and everything else.
