In this Introduction to Watercolor and Natural Pigment Making, you’ll learn how to create a variety of beautiful, sustainable pigments from natural sources. We’ll then explore expressive mark-making techniques and finish by painting several pieces using your very own homemade pigments.Kari Varner is a photography instructor at the local university and is deeply passionate about sharing art as an accessible medium for expression. Kari has been active in local art exhibitions, is a co-director of the campus gallery that serves as an important venue for contemporary art exposure in the local community, and has previous experience conducting arts workshops with artists of all ages and abilities. She believes that art has the capacity to enliven and enrich our connection to the natural world.
