Vin de France – Session 2

We have traveled to some of the most famous regions of France over the past few years – Alsace, Burgundy, Bordeaux, the Rhône and the Loire. These areas are called “appellations”, and the French have a very strict system on which wines can carry these place names. But, there are thousands of wines made in France that are not labeled with a designated area. These wines carry the name of “Vin de France” or “Vin de Pays” (now known as IGP). And the winemakers are some of the most creative and adventurous in the country. They work outside of the regional rules to produce wines that are surprisingly delicious, not to mention extremely affordable! French treats to accompany, of course.
