Vimka is a musician based in Des Moines, Iowa. After 7 years of work, she is releasing her first full length LP, Nights At Otter Creek. The album is about her journey of coming out and living life as a transwoman. When she first came out in 2016, she faced lots of rejection from family and friends. After a suicide attempt, her friend invited her to a park called Otter Creek. It was there that she saw the vision for the album. The record uses 7 years of audio recordings all recorded at the park. Things like cicadas, birds, crickets, owls, cayotes, fireplace samples, rain storm in a tent noises, fire grate rattling, dogs purring, lighter flicks, frogs, the sounds of walking barefoot through the woods all make up the textural components of the album. The majority of instrumentals were recorded in August 2022 with her band on a starry night at Otter Creek. Having written over 150 songs throughout the years, the 11 that made the cut will be debuted on August 26th, 2023 at xBk Live for a night that will blow ur sox off.
