Join the Akron Community and Village Keepers of Ohio for our 1st annual 2K Walkathon Fundraiser. Our pledge is to be apart of the change to stop the violence in our communities. We are counting on citizens, leadership and businesses throughout the city for their commitment and pledge to fully impact our community for change!
We are calling on are local businesses, church leaders, city council, APS board members, fellow mentors and organizations, coaches, youth groups and sport leagues, parents and families, attorneys, judges, APD, funeral homes throughout our community to register to walk for the cause. Pre registration begins now!!
Registration Fees:
$20 Adults 18 and older
$5 Children ages 5 - 10
$10 Youth ages 11 - 17
$10 Elderly seniors 65 or older
$75 Groups rate for five or more
All registered walkers are encouraged to get pledges to donate to the cause and support their walk for awareness and prevention of gun violence. Each registered walker will receive an email/text with a pledge form and QR Code to give to all their supporters who would like to donate to the cause. All non registered walkers can also donate to village keepers or contact Butchie Da'Barber about yearly sponsorship. All proceeds will go to the Village Keepers Nonprofit organization. All walkers must be at Perkins Park 899 Diagonal Rd at 11am stretching. The 2K Walkathon Kickoff will start promptly at 11:30am and end at Lawton Community Center where restrooms, a live DJ, prizes, refreshments for walkers, information tables and guest speakers will be set up for an awesome healing journey for our community.
The mission of this 1st Inaugural 2K Walkathon is to bring awareness throughout our community that we are One, and we stand and walk together on the prevention of gun violence and the impact it has on our community, families, and children. The goal is to bond together to find solutions and not be part of the problem, and bring healing to families who lost their loved ones to Gun Violence in our community. We encourage all families who lost their loved ones to Gun Violence to make a poster board picture of their loved ones to send a powerful message to our community that enough is enough. A balloon release and prayer will end our community gathering, remembering and healing.
