Join us for weekly sessions where we channel our inner Vikings! Combat, Historic Crafts, Talks, Lectures, Demonstrations every week.
Welcome to the **Vikings of Middle England Weekly Sessions**! Join us every Wednesday starting from January 8, 2025, at 7:30 PM at the Braunstone West Social Centre. Get ready to immerse yourself in the world of Vikings, where you can learn about their history, culture, and lifestyle. Whether you're a history buff or just curious about the Viking era, these sessions are perfect for you. Come along and have a great time with like-minded individuals as we explore the fascinating world of the Vikings together!
Every month we have a 2-hour "Living history" session that takes the form of a demonstration, lecture or workshop where you can learn about or get hands on with a Viking-age craft or skills, with opportunities each week to practice it in our workshop space. For the more blood thirsty, we have combat training sessions for the rest of the month where we practise our fighting routines which are a carefully balanced mix of flamboyant and rehearsed combats and unscripted "free fights," where the warriors' gritty determination and extensive training in the use of the weapons of the Viking-age come to the fore.
All sessions are open to any participants aged 18 or above (16+ with parental permission).
Combat Training scales for most fitness levels and body types, but participants with physical health conditions are advised to consult with their GP or physical therapist.
